Power Cables

So, the million-dollar question - what elements make a high-performance power cable?

Despite some of the wild marketing claims floating around, a power cord simply conducts electricity.  And when it comes to conducting electricity, I take two simple and steadfast rules to heart:

1. Increased Conductivity = Decreased Resistance

(more/better current flow – the garden hose vs. fire hose analogy)

&

2. Greater Insulation & Shielding = Less Interference & Lower Capacitance and Inductance

(cleaner and more efficient current/signal transfer)

These rules are the framework for every decision I make regarding how I design and build my cables.  I am often asked about my material choices and construction techniques, and/or why I don't use “exotic” stuff.  To that I simply say, I design and build my cables to provide outstanding performance and value, not slick ad copy.

Speaker Cables

Back when I was only making power cables, my clients posed a few million-dollar questions of their own regarding speaker cables:

"What do I look for in a good set/what makes them good?"

"What have you used/made for yourself?"

"Can you make me some?"

I have quite a few thoughts about that first question, and I'm not shy about tweaking my designs, so the second question has an equally long-winded answer.  I'll spare you the details and just answer the third one - "Yes, I'd be happy to!" ...but with a caveat...

If you believe that large speaker cables are not beneficial, then my cables are not for you, and I wish you well in your search.

If, however, you believe that it is beneficial to maximize signal transfer whenever possible, then my cables may be perfect for you.

This page showcases some of the plugs and other build materials I use, which I'm proud to now offer for sale on their own.

I can't afford to keep a lot of extra materials around though, so quantities are limited - sorry.

The building products I use (and subsequently offer for sale) are constructed with 4N Copper and exceptionally high 97-98% Copper contents, and the details of each product are in their respective listings.

The page also features some of the goodies I have cooked up in the lab by special request over the years (I'm always up for a challenge).
